最近很多大學招生辦都陸續寄信介紹他們的學校。我一直鼓勵學生，不要只是看看就刪掉，因為這些信裡面，往往藏著很多「蛛絲馬跡」，可以幫助你了解一所學校真正重視的是什麼。

像 Rice 這封信，短短幾句話就點出了學校的精髓。

“With more than 50 majors and 25 minors across seven distinct Schools of Study, Rice undergraduates have the freedom to explore, experiment and combine interests to create their own academic path. 點進去之後，你看到的不只是各個科系，而是整個四年的學習規劃。第一年可以探索哪些課程？什麼時候決定 Major？如果想修 Minor、雙主修或跨領域課程，又有哪些可能性？

這些內容，都能幫助你開始想像自己的大學四年會如何展開。

很多學生寫 Why School Essay 時，只會說學校排名很好、資源很多，這些都是任何人都能寫的答案。

Rice 官網上的一句話，我覺得就是最好的提示：

Immerse, explore, question, experiment, combine and create your own path.

如果你能把這句話真正讀懂，你就知道 Why School Essay 不只是回答「為什麼選這所學校」，而是在回答：「我想如何在這所學校成長。」

研究一所大學時，一定要問自己：

• 第一年的我，想探索哪些領域？

• 哪些課程最吸引我？

• 我有沒有機會把兩個興趣結合起來？

• 四年之後，我希望自己成為什麼樣的人？
